“I don’t even know where my cell phone is.”
Did those psychos take it when they took me? Come to think of it, I don’t know where my wallet is either. I haven’t needed either of them, and therefore, I haven’t questioned it.
“Well, if I can’t find mine before you leave, I’ll give you Blade’s number until I get a new one.”
“Okay, sounds good.”
Silence falls between us as I watch Maggie’s stare carefully. She’s looking at Hawk, all the way on the other side of the house by the garage.
“What’s up with you guys?”
“Who?” Maggie asks, trying hard to hide the fact that she knowsexactlywho I’m talking about.
“Come on, Maggie. You know who.Hawk.What’s up with you and Hawk? I see the way you look at one another.”
She smiles and shakes her head as she takes another sip of her beer.
“Honestly?” she asks. “I have no idea. Do I like him? Yeah. Sure. Does he feel the same? Beats the hell out of me.”
“Ofcourse,he likes you. Every time I’m around you and he comes in, he can’t keep his eyes off of you. I snuck into your room the night before the first time we ever spoke, and he was sleeping in the chair next to your bed.”
She looks from me to Hawk then back again.
“He was?”
“Yes. He was. Just like Blade did for me. I really think he cares about you. You should stay and see what happens. Blade and I may be moving out of the clubhouse soon, maybe you can take his room when we’re gone?”
“Oh? You guys are getting serious, huh?” she asks in a way that seems a little sarcastic. I don’t appreciate her tone, but before I get a chance to tell her as much, she speaks again. “Doesheknow that?”
She points the lip of her beer bottle at something across the room. I follow her direction, and my heart drops when I see Blade, sitting down in a chair with that skank ass bitch on his lap.
“What thefuck?” I shout, not even attempting to keep my voice at a reasonable level.
Thank God the music is cranked up again, so no one hears me. Thatmotherfucker. I look at Maggie with a scowl, and she nods toward him, egging me on and telling me to handle this situation. But I have no idea what to do.
Then he lyrics of the song drift into my ears, giving me an idea.
Dirty girl, gettin’ down, dance with guys from outta town. Grab her ass, actin’ tough. Mess with her, she’ll fuck you up.
Oh, someone’s about to get fucked up all right. With narrowed eyes, I pin Blade with my stare. As soon as he notices me, his face drops, even though he tries hard to keep his features in check.
“Another shot, Kid,” I demand when I get to the bar. “A red-headed slut, please.”
With a slight smile on his face, Kid mixes the shot quickly and hands it over. I turn and look at them before I down it quickly. Listening to the song for another second, it lays out my next move for me.
She likes to shake her ass, she grinds it to the beat…
Okay, shake my ass. Grind it to the beat. I can do that. I look around, and the first person my eyes land on is Hawk. I turn to Maggie quickly with an apologetic look before continuing. Walking up to Hawk, I take his beer out of his hand, stealing a sip before handing it back to him. Then I turn around and grind my ass against him. I catch Maggie’s reaction across the room, and she is in absolute hysterics.
Thank God. At least I knowshewon’t be mad at me tomorrow.
Cap is next to Hawk, and I’m very thankful it’s not a stranger. If I’m going to do this, I need todo it.I can’t puss out just because I don’t know someone. When I step in front of Cap, I look up at his face. His eyes go wide before he looks over at Blade and cracks a half smile.
Moving from Cap, I look to see who else is nearby that I can use in my shallow payback. Josh is next. Well, if I didn’t get a rise out of him with his brothers, maybe this will do it. Josh takes my hand and spins me around in a circle before dipping me nice and low. I catch Blade, upside down, before Josh brings me upright again.
Woah. Head rush.
Before I get a chance to find the next guy to drive Blade crazy with, I feel two strong hands grab hold of my waist and lift me high into the air. The next thing I notice is the room is upside down. Wait, that’s not right. No. Blade has thrown me over his shoulder and is stomping through the house toward the foyer. Taking the stairs two at a time, I listen as the music grows softer the farther we get from it.
