“Anyway, just stick around here the rest of the night. I want to be able to find you when I need you,” Stone orders.
When everyone begins to disperse, I approach Stone.
“You need me up in Gettysburg?” I inquire.
“No, we’ll let Royce’s guys handle bringing him in. They have a lot more bodies than we do. We can’t afford, nor do I want to lose anyone, if something goes wrong.”
Not what I wanted to hear. I still don’t trust that Royce won’t kill him on the spot. All that matters is that he dies, but I want a piece of that action.
For Sasha.
I walk the short distance to Maggie’s door before knocking softly. The door opens, and Sasha’s eyes are the first thing mine land on.
“May I come in?” I request.
She doesn’t say anything, she simply moves out of the way, opening the door a little farther.
I take control of the door once I get into the room, closing it behind me.
“So, Pretty Boy,” I begin, before turning my attention to Maggie, “he’s our sergeant at arms, and one of your father’s men are pursuing Jasper right now.”
Sasha stays silent while I bring Maggie up to speed.
“He and another guy fled the house of an acquaintance and took off in his car. Once they get a little closer to this area, or even to Gettysburg, your club is going to try to shoot out his tires or do something to immobilize him.”
“My dad’s club,” Maggie corrects.
I nod my apologies before turning back to Sasha. Running my hands over her arms, I look down at her.
“You okay?”
“Yeah. Nervous and anxious. I want him caught. I hate living in fear.”
“It won’t be like this much longer,” I place my finger under her chin, forcing her to look into my eyes. “I promise.”
She nods.
“I didn’t say anything to Maggie,” she whispers softly. “I didn’t know if I could tell her anything.”
“Good girl,” I whisper back with a wink.
“It might be a bit, you ladies want me to turn the television on for you?”
Sasha shakes her head. Maggie doesn’t have any interest either.
“My stomach really hurts. I think all the sloshing around of the beer and liquor is finally getting to me.”
“One sec,” I tell her.
Opening the door, I search the room for Hawk.
“Yo, Hawk!” He turns his attention to me, and I wave him over.
“What’s wrong?” he asks Maggie as soon as he walks through the door.
“She’s fine, dude. But Sasha has a stomachache. You got anything to help her?”
“Oh, yeah. Of course.”
