I watch Sasha’s eyes grow wide with terror at his words.

“Then I’m going to fuck that hole and, spray my cum all over your fucking brain.”

He grows silent as he takes in her expression.

“Got it?” he asks before smacking her cheek again.

Standing upright, he goes for his zipper, and I lose it all over again.

“Don’t fucking touch her!” I shout, about to get up and tackle him as I hear a gunshot ring out. Rooster fired right over my head, causing Sasha to scream.

“Blade, don’t,” she sobs, a fresh coat of tears falling down her gorgeous face.

Jasper unzips himself, and just before he enters her mouth, I hear a sound that is practically music to my ears. The roar of engines in the distance. It doesn’t sound like a lot of bikes, but I’ll take what I can get. Jasper quickly tucks himself back into his pants and begins to untie Sasha. I wait until she’s nearly freed before I make my move.

With Rooster’s attention on the incoming bikes, I make a final attempt to run at him and grab his gun. Pushing up off of the floor, I hear another gunshot as I reach my arms out to tackle him. I fear that one of them has shot Sasha just before a searing pain burns my chest. I don’t understand what it is at first, but when I look down and see the blood already soaking through my t-shirt, I realize I’m the one who was shot.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

No.

No.

“No!”

My heart shatters into a million pieces when I see blood seeping through Blade’s shirt as he collapses back onto the cement. This can’t be happening. Get up, Blade.

“Get up!Please, Blade,” I sob as Jasper finishes untying me.

I try to run to him, I need to help him, but Jasper grabs me by my bra and pulls me against his body. I see Blade moving around on the ground a little before I’m forced toward the entrance to the barn.

“You’re not going anywhere, princess,” Jasper assures me. “Rooster, to the car. Now.”

I hear the growl of the motorcycles getting louder.Pleaselet it be the Skull and not more members of Death’s Road. My heart aches in my chest as Jasper pushes me forward, toward the barn door. We follow Rooster out, but as soon as we set foot outside, shots fire in our direction.

I scream and struggle to take cover as Jasper pulls me back into the barn. Rooster re-renters right on our heels.

“Stay here, and shoot them as they try to get in,” Jasper orders him.

It’s the Skull. It has to be. But it doesn’t do anything to bring me relief. Blade is nearly to his knees as we pass by him. I attempt to get out of Jasper’s grasp once more so I can run to him.

“Ah, ah. We’re going this way. We’re going to play a little game of hide-and-seek. Jasper pushes me farther into the back of the barn where it’s dark. I hear another shot, and when I turn around to see what happened, I see Blade on the ground again.

“No!” I scream again, sobbing.

This time it looks as though Blade is down and not moving, but I can’t get a good look before Jasper pushes me into a horse stall and closes the gate behind us. Pressing me against the side of the stall, he keeps his body against mine, his front to my back. Positioning his gun, he stands guard, aiming at the entrance of the barn to shoot anyone who comes in.

I pray that the people on the bikes are Blade’s brothers. I pray even harder that Hawk is one of them, and he can check on Blade.

As long as he isn’t already—

Be positive, Sasha.

My knees shake with fear and sorrow, and I know if Jasper wasn’t pushing his body against mine that I would be too weak to stand.

“Are you getting as horny as I am, princess? The danger, the thrill… It drives me wild.”

I feel his erection dig into my lower back, and I cringe before something hot and wet touches my ear. Before I can move away, Jasper sucks my earlobe into his mouth. My hair stands on end as the shots keep ringing out. I watch as Rooster looks out the door and fires before quickly taking cover again. Then I hear the Skull return fire.
