“There’s a code,” continued Scarlet. “We don’t trespass into clubs or steal subs.”
“Her Domina asked me to remove her from Pendulum.”
Scarlet nodded as she put the pieces together.
“Yeah, so before you accuse me of stealing submissives—”
“I had no idea.” She frowned. “Won’t her Domina feel the same about her?”
“Rue is no longer at Majestic.”
“Carrie Quinn?”
“Yes, that’s her.”
“Do you want me to escort Rue to Faulkner?”
“She’s not going back to him.”
She let out a frustrated sigh. “He’s in Richard’s office. Talk to him at least.”
“Why areyouhere?”
“I know him,” she said softly.
“In what capacity?”
“I was his mistress when he started out.”
Because that was how it was done. Every Dom started out as a sub. It was the way of things—although Cameron was an exception to that rule. And I was, too, because I bowed to fucking no one.
I shook my head. “I refuse to let him have her.”
Richard came strolling down the hallway towards us. He patted Scarlet’s arm with affection.
I braced for his demands, ready to take the hit.
He turned to face me. “Trying to make my life interesting?”
I folded my arms, ready to argue. “I’ve never asked for anything until now.”
“I’m the one who signed off on Rue being here, remember?” he said.
I shoved my hands into my pockets. “I’m listening.”
“What are you to her?” he said.
“I’m navigating her through the process.”
Richard studied me. “You wouldn’t be averse to Faulkner training her here at Chrysalis, then?”
“Win, win,” said Scarlet. “Rue stays.”
“You could watch over them,” added Richard.
I drew in a calming breath. “There’s a chance he’ll take her back to Pendulum.”
Richard gave a nod. “Or we do it another way.”
