“Which is?” I glanced from him to Scarlet.

Scarlet and Richard both answered my question with glares.

I shook my head even as my chest constricted with their suggestion.

“I don’t see the problem,” said Richard. “You’re an hour away from giving her to Grantchester.”

I tried to hide the truth. I’d grown fond of Rue. Her passion aligned with mine. Her predilections mirrored my own. If I was looking for a partner she’d be my first choice.

Only I wasn’t going anywhere near a relationship.

“Grantchester’s not right for her,” I said.

“Sinclair?” asked Richard. “He’s in.”

“That’s a good choice, right?” said Scarlet.

“No, not right either.” I threw in a nod of conviction.

Richard looked amused. “So neither one is right for her?”

“I’m the right person to decide who would be the best Dom for her.”

“And yet the Dom can’t be you?” asked Richard, quirking an eyebrow.

“I have commitments,” I reasoned.

Richard raised a finger to stop me there. “As you’re staying, you might as well watch over your sub.”

“Mysub?”

“We listened to you. Now you need to do the same and listen to us.” Richard folded his arms defensively. “Do this for Rue.”

“Not a good time for me.”

He opened his palms in a gesture of surrender. “This is your place as much as ours.”

I appreciated what he was saying but I’d always beentheirguardian. I was the one who put the fires out—and I didn’t need to complicate matters.

“I have to leave from time to time, business and such,” I said with a note of finality.

“I’m fine with that,” said Richard. “Lotte will watch over her when you’re not here.”

“That would work, right?” Scarlet affectionately rested her hand on my arm.

Was I really being forced to take on one of the most beautiful women I’d ever seen and own her?

Protect her.

My gut clenched with the possibilities.

I wanted her.

Wanted to play and push and possess that beautiful woman. All I had to do was keep my heart closed and my mind focused on giving her the best experience.

“I’ll continue for now,” I said quietly.

Scarlet went to say something and then seemed to think better of it.
