Glancing at the photo again, I felt a rush of emotion. Soon I’d be seeing her back at Chrysalis.

Even if it was just for a filthy, erotic game.

“Tell me more about CloudSource,” said Henry. “Let’s talk about your strategy moving forward.”

I leaned back in my seat, comforted in the knowledge that I had the best friends in world.

Henry and I parted ways at The Edison.

Seeing him had been cathartic. It always was, and I promised to make a concerted effort to spend more time with the oldest Cole brother—especially since he was now living in L.A.

The Coles really were an extraordinary family.

What Cam had done at Chrysalis was equally compelling. He’d helped so many people here, but trying to tell Henry that was challenging. It was a concept even I had trouble understanding.

I stopped off at home to shower and then change into a black tuxedo for tonight’s soirée.

The drive back to Bel Air was pleasant. Probably because I knew I was heading back to Rue.

As usual, I made my way around the back of the manor and entered Chrysalis via the private door.

I preferred jeans and a T-shirt to a tux, but I had to follow the dress code. This starched shirt and bowtie weren’t exactly me.

When in Rome…or more specifically, Chrysalis, I honored the rules.

Loosening my tie, I headed down the long hallway toward the Harrington Suite. The cognac I’d shared with Henry back at The Edison had eased my tension.

I’d be showcasing my predilection for exhibitionism in the most decadent display. This tradition of handing over a sub to another master had gone on for years.

The only time it had been broken was for Mia, because Cameron had not deemed her ready. And no one was going to argue with him.

Rue, however, would revel in the display of power exchange.

None of us were shy about sex. We’d all gotten over the hesitation of watching others fuck during our first days here. Now, we were all relaxed with each other and as close as friends could be.

Trying to get in the right headspace, I focused on what Rue would need.

The ritual was imminent.

Just the thought of taking her again made me hard.

Back in the military, with all its rules, we had to let go of our individuality. Here, it was celebrated.

Something continued to simmer inside me; a stark jealousy for anyone who touched Rue.

These rapid-fire thoughts were disrupted when I saw Jake heading my way, all black-tie swagger and untamed confidence. Breaking my fucking heart still seemed to agree with him. De Sade walked with the kind of arrogance that turned heads.

“Hey,” he greeted me.

“Is Rylee here?” I asked.

“No.”

I gave a nod. “See you later.”

“Don’t be like this.”

“Like what?”
