Even now, I hated the distance between myself and Rue and it was merely a wall between us. The thought of losing her completely caused a wave of dread to surge over me like a tsunami.

I felt equal parts anger and relief as I scanned the last page.

“You’re welcome.” The asshole probably found this funny.

I inhaled a deep, cleansing breath. The thought of losing Rue had filled me with too much dread.

My adrenaline was still spiking.
