Cameron’s razor-sharp focus zeroed in on my distracted look. “Want to talk about it?”
I didn’t need Cole digging around my psyche. “How are things with you?”
He thought on it and then said, “Really good.”
“You’re both content to have given up the scene?”
“Hello to you, too.”
“Just saying.”
Cameron picked up a bottle of water from the table and unscrewed the lid. I watched him take a few gulps.
“How’s the new submissive?” he said.
“Rue?”
“The one you have no emotional connection to?” He arched a brow.
“There’s affection for her.”
“Right.”
“She’s sweet-natured.”
“That’s how I found her.”
“Just come out and fucking say it, Cole.”
“Say what?”
“You know me better than I know myself. Tell me what’s going on inside my head.”
“How would I know what’s happening inside your head?”
“Because that’s how you work. You get inside a mind and gnaw away until you get to the problem.”
“Gnaw?”
“You know what I mean.”
“I hear you’ve signed the submissive contract.”
“Is nothing private?”
“Richard told me.”
That made me smile because Cole usually began with a shocking accusation to rile me up.
“Having feelings for her makes you uncomfortable.” He rested his palm over his heart. “When this awakens, watch out world.”
“I’ll take some antacid.”
Cameron looked amused. “Why do I sense it’s serious?”
“You have a problem at Cole Tea,” I said, attempting to change the subject.
He waved a hand in the air. “Let’s focus on you. You’re standing before me right now. You’re important. Let’s seek out a solution.”
