I was hit with doubt. “I can’t accept this.”

“You can and you will,” Cameron said firmly. “This is non-negotiable.”

I was trying to keep air in my lungs as I processed this stunning revelation.

Cameron rested his hand on my shoulder. “You’ve earned this.”

“I don’t know what to say.”

“Words aren’t needed, my friend.” Cameron gave a warm grin.

I took a deep breath of the fresh ocean air.

“Enthrall. Will I be allowed back?” I asked.

“Of course,” said Cameron.

“Just not as your security advisor?” I clarified.

“You’re always welcome,” said Richard.

“Soon, it will be time to take CloudSource to the next level,” said Cameron. “Richard and I insist on being early investors.”

This was a lot to take in.

A town car with blacked out windows drove stealthily toward us, parking nearby.

I wondered if they’d brought Rue here.

Crazy wishful thinking.

Approaching the town car, I ran through all the things I might say to Rue.

I reached for the door handle, my heart racing surprisingly fast.

It opened before I could touch it.

I stepped back, surprised.

“Not who you were expecting?” Henry offered a warm smile.

I accepted his offer to climb in and sit opposite him, the brief hope of seeing Rue ripped from me.

I suppressed my disappointment.

At least I was still welcome at Chrysalis.

That plot of land was six times as large as the one I’d set my heart on. It was going to take time to get used to the idea of it being mine. They really were the most generous men I’d ever known.

Today had been mind-blowing.

The town car’s divider rose and cut us off from Henry’s driver.

“How are you, buddy?” said Henry.

“Do you know what they just gave me?” I leaned back, trying to comprehend it.

“Yeah, not bad. Not bad at all.”
