“Rue,” I snapped.
“Yes, sir.” She reflected obedience. “Sorry, sir.”
“Better.”
She turned to look out the back window at where we’d left Kaison standing.
“Eyes forward,” I snapped.
And Rue obeyed.
Istill couldn’t believe I’d been pulled out of Pendulum.
Not after what it took for me to get in there.
Still, I consoled myself with the thought that this man might be able to get me into Enthrall—the premier club that was more difficult to get into than Pendulum, which was saying something.
My Domina was making my life hell by ordering him to watch over me.
Shay would probably never forgive me for that.
We’d driven away from Gladstones and within ten minutes pulled up to his beachside home.
I’d been pleasantly surprised to see the inside was as swanky as the location. After he gave me a quick tour to make me feel welcome, I felt comfortable enough to find my way around this four-bedroom two-story home.
Shay led me around as though I was an expected visitor and we’d not met under weird circumstances. Like he’d not seen me half-naked and secured to a ceiling. He was polite enough to act casual.
He didn’t flirt; he was all business. Like I was a job, and he was carrying it out to the letter.
Shay admitted the place had benefited from the talents of an interior designer. It was all marble and expensive light fixtures and did not include much personal stuff to reveal his personality or character.
I was now stealing time in his luxurious bathroom to freshen up. Just as he’d invited me to.
This evening had been a catastrophe.
I’d worked hard to get into that secret club—a place that wasn’t supposed to exist. I’d pushed myself during training and flourished under the guidance of my Dom. I’d counted down the days until my entry into Pendulum.
Only to be forcibly removed an hour later. Even ifhewas devastatingly enigmatic, I hated Shay for it.
Still, if some part of me had wanted to be rescued by a knight in a tailored suit, Shay Gardner would be that man. Only, I’d come too far to fail as a submissive.
There was no doubt Shay was brilliant enough to have been hired to work at Enthrall and interesting enough not to be intimidated by Kaison Faulkner. With me though, he acted like this entire charade was a mistake.
At some point, we’d have that talk. I could see it looming on his pursed and very judgmental lips.
What he couldn’t know was I about to unleash my redheaded self onto an unsuspecting Shay.
I just needed to rid myself of this constricting bodice.
After my shower, I wrapped myself in a towel and sat on the edge of the tub. Grabbing my phone from the corner table, I spent a few minutes searching for more info on my mysterious captor.
Even though he came with Carrie’s approval, I scoured the Internet for anything that would give me more details on this man.
There wasn’t much. He kept his life private. His social media was locked down. The most compelling discovery I made was that Shay was an ex-Navy SEAL.
That detail had me pressing my palm to my chest to slow my racing heart. This explained his confidence, his alpha swagger. And his impressive physique. He was someone who had faced off with the worst danger.
Imagining Shay in a uniform was sexy as hell.
