“Endless?”
A ripple of chemistry flickered between us, as though his voice had the ability to enter me, flickering all the way down there.
“Merely pleasure,” he mulled that over.
“If it pleases my master.”
Shay ran his thumb over his lower lip. “I can see you’ve had some training.”
He had this way of turning me on with merely a tilt of his head. That cute smirk was more of a suppressed grin.
It sent me reeling.
The way he wielded his quiet power like a leather whip promising to kiss my skin.
Just the thought of him doing anything to me made my body flush. He caught my reaction, staring as my nipples beaded, giving me away.
He reached for another can of beer and pulled the tab, cracking it open.
“Why exactly did you check out my social media?” I said to douse this fire.
“Are you hungry?” he said, ignoring my accusation. “I can cook you something.”
“No.” My stomach was in knots. “Did you do a background search on me?”
“I was courteous enough not to be secretive about it.”
“How much do you know about me?” Shay couldn’t knoweverything. “That doesn’t seem fair.”
“We keep one face for the public and our true self hidden.”
“And what is my hidden self?”
“You’re still finding your way.”
“I suppose that’s true.”
“It’s the hidden part I’m interested in.”
I met his gaze. “You probably know I’m an RN.”
He took a swig of beer. “At Cedars, right?”
I went with his line of questioning. “I work in the ICU, but I’ve applied to transfer to a different unit.”
“Why?”
“Change of pace.”
“Whatever you decide to do you’ll be great at it.”
“You don’t know that. I’m a little nervous.”
“That’s natural, but you have above average intelligence.”
“How do you know that?”
“You scored high on your SAT’s.”
