“As much as I felt was necessary.”
“For what?” I smirked at my cheekiness. “You like to get to know your submissives before you take them to Enthrall?”
He gave me a look. The one that told me it wasn’t happening.
Shay leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. “Your Domina sent me to retrieve you. To keep you safe. That’s exactly what I’m going to do.”
I looked away, frustrated. “You made me believe…”
He set his beer on the table. “I can’t be held responsible for your imagination.”
“You pulled me out of Pendulum. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get in?”
“Actually, I do.”
I wagged a finger at him. “You don’t get to sabotage what took me weeks to prepare for.”
“You weren’t prepared.”
“You don’t get to order me out of a scene because you don’t approve. I’m sure you’ve done worse.”

I stood up. “You’re manipulative.”
“I fulfilled a commitment, which doesn’t involve discussing ‘the scene’ with you.”
“Seriously?”
He pushed himself up and towered over me. “You flew too close to the flame. Just be glad there was someone there to prevent you from flying directly into it.”
“You don’t get it,” I snapped.
“I know Pendulum was important to you. Maybe when you’re older you can go back, when you’re capable of making adult decisions.”
“That’s not fair.”
“You’re not trained well enough for Pendulum.”
“You don’t know that.”
“You were trembling when I entered the dungeon. I saw no sign of arousal.”
“Until you walked in,” I said, sounding breathless.
I let that sink in.
No games. Just me letting him know this mutual attraction couldn’t be denied.
He glowered. “Your behavior is intolerable for a submissive.”
“We’re having a conversation.”
