“Ready?”
“Yes, sir.”
As ready as you’d expect from someone who’d virtually begged for this.
“You’ve left Majestic?” he asked.
“Yes.”
“What do you make of Enthrall?”
“I thought there might be more guests.”
He shrugged. “You signed your life away?”
“Not technically.”
He smirked and it looked so damn sexy. “Did you complete the list?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Anything resonate?”
“Lady Chatterley’s Lover.”
“What did you like about the book?”
“Not much.” I recalled how her husband had encouraged her to have a lover. “It baffled me how she could love two men at the same time.”
He looked thoughtful. “I see.”
Lady Chatterley’s husband was a war vet, unable to be intimate with his wife due to his severe injuries from battle. So, he’d let her have another man.
“I couldn’t do that, though,” I admitted. “I would have found a way to be with my husband.”
“Very honorable.” Shay’s tone became serious. “Contraception?”
“Lady Chatterley?”
He looked amused. “No, you.”
“I get the shot. Every three months.”
“You reliably take that?”
“Yes, of course.”
“I have to ask, you understand?”
“Shall I call you Master?”
“As I’m not your Master, no.”
“Then what?”
“I’ve gotten you in, Rue. That’s it. Don’t expect leniency, either.”
A chill caused the hairs on my forearms to prickle. “But I thought…”
