“This is my dad’s place.”
I cringed at how this looked and took a step back. “Darryn’s not a housemate?”
“No.” He looked annoyed. “What’s this about?”
“I have the wrong address.”
He closed the door a little. “Looks like it.”
I’d literally watched Darryn head round the back of this house, but I wasn’t going to share that with this young man and creep him out.
With rent so high it wasn’t unusual for a homeowner to lease their guest house at the back of their property, make extra cash to try to keep up with L.A.’s exorbitant rates.
Though that didn’t seem to be the case here.
With a background check I’d have the legal name of the owner. If they were covering for Darryn, I’d find out.
I strolled back to my car.
Darryn’s asshole status had just been upgraded to threat level one.
I climbed back into the Rover and checked my watch. It was just after 5:00 P.M.
Going back to Chrysalis was a possibility, but the thought of seeing Rue brought a sense of uneasiness.
Especially seeing her dressed like an elite submissive with that collar around her throat.
Like she was mine.
I started the engine and pulled away from the curb, turning onto Wilshire and driving toward the PCH, which would take me back to Malibu…and home.
A5:00 A.M. run along the beach:check
An hour at the gym:check
Now, stealing time at the gun range before heading to Chrysalis.I raised my pistol, steadying it with my other hand, and pointed it down range at the target.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang.
Just don’t think about her.
The sub I’d left back at Chrysalis yesterday.
The woman I’d escorted inside with so many possibilities ahead of her. Lottie would watch over her, give her all she needed to feel comfortable that first night there.
Why was saying her name so challenging?
I believed a night apart would give me time to think.
Time to work out which Dom might be a good fit.
It wasn’t like I was falling for her, the ingénue I would have to face this morning.
I was about to provide her with a new master.
Anyone but Faulkner.
Just not me.
