“Then why aren’t you on your knees?”
I lowered myself to the ground and stared up at him.
“Follow me.” He walked toward the door.
“Got everything you need?” asked Dominic.
“I’m fine,” I said, taking another look around the library. “Does every submissive start here?”
“Everyone has a different path. Clearly, the powers that be believe these books will be helpful.”
I moved toward the coffee table and picked a book off the top of the pile,The Power of Nowby Eckhart Tolle.
I’d already been given reading material before I’d arrived. This could be done another time.
“When will I join the others?” I asked.
“Soon, I imagine.” Dominic wasn’t good at lying.
They were trying to keep me busy until Shay got back. That much was obvious.
“If you need anything just say so, dear.”
Dominic left, closing the door quietly behind him.
I collapsed on the sofa, still reeling from what Shay had just done to me in the breakfast room. The aggressive fucking he’d given me over the table—it was like all his feelings were vented in one show of power.
Still feeling boneless, I shuddered through the residual pleasure. The world felt safe for the first time I could remember.
I was staying. That much was obvious.
There were so many pleasures waiting for me on the other side of that door.
I couldn’t wait for Shay to return.
But being given a distraction until he returned wasn’t so bad. This was one of the swankiest libraries I’d ever seen. Wall to wall dark wooden shelves were filled with books of every description, along with a few first editions.
The relaxed atmosphere was comforting. A lit fireplace crackled with orange flames; occasional sparks bursting out onto the hearth.
The warmth felt soothing. I relaxed on the cozy couch, surrounded by high-backed armchairs. Rugs covered the floor here and there, giving the space an eclectic feel with both masculine and feminine touches. A low hanging crystal chandelier sprayed sparkles of light from delicate glass droplets.
I was pretty sure I’d find some erotic literature in here, too, if I had more time to explore.
Suddenly I had an eerie feeling like I was being watched.
My gaze snapped toward the doorway.
A visceral sensation.
A tall, handsome man almost filled the doorway with his broad shoulders. His intense stare couldn’t be ignored. Ripped jeans and a T-shirt downplayed the wealth his Rolex gave away.
He smirked. “So, this is where the exotic little sparrow is hiding?”
“Sir?”
I noticed he was wearing a wedding ring.
“You must be Rue.”
