“You’re considering it?” said Shay.

“I’m in the consideration phase.”

Shay studied my face. “I wonder what Lotte thinks about all of this?”

Both their expressions were filled with affection at the mention her name.

“Right now she’s super tired. We did a lot of walking.”

Cameron’s fingers curled and then relaxed as he seemingly imagined the dangers we’d trekked through.

“I’d have given my life for her,” I said softly.

Cameron leaned forward. “She felt the same, Henry.”

Her coming with me had been both welcome and a responsibility. She’d made the entire spectacle tolerable.

The flight attendant handed us each a mug of tea.

I wrapped my hands around the heavy porcelain, sipping my favorite brew. All the other luxuries of home were a five-hour flight away.

Shay beamed. “Talk about building the tension. You and Lotte, I mean.”

I stared back at him. “Yes.”

My brother looked concerned.

I knew he’d want reassuring. “It was good spending time with her. Getting to know her—”

“Under difficult circumstances,” he said.

We’d made love before I’d arrived at Reese’s camp. Anyway, that wasn’t any of their business.

And yet my brother seemed to pick up on that.

Cameron leaned back against the headrest. “Wow.”

“Disapprove?” I bit back.

He smirked, but he seemed pleased. “I’m glad you finally saw what the rest of us have been witnessing.”

“Yeah, finally,” chided Shay.

“Charlotte’s the grace none of us deserve,” said Cameron sincerely.

“Thank you for covering for me,” I said.

Prior to boarding on Friday, I’d emailed my brother and asked that he hold down the fort while I was away.

“There’s a lot going on,” I added.

“Just a small matter of corporate espionage,” said Cameron.

“Any updates?” I asked.

Shay waved that off. “We have a few reports for you.”

“I’ll take a look.” I shrugged. “I needed a weekend away.”
