“Sorry.” I drew in a calming breath. “It’s been a rough day.”

His sigh was infused with sympathy. “Come on, let’s wait in my office. We can catch up. I’ll message Lotte to meet us there.”

Lottewashere.

“I thought you banned her?” I said.

“Not permanently.”

“What is she doing?”

“Right now? She’s in a session—”

“Don’t want to hear it.” My frustration was simmering close to the surface.

Richard changed the subject. “You caught the sun in Florida.”

“Is Lotte with a male client?”

He raised his hand to clarify. “It’s not what you think.”

Really?

It soundedexactlylike what I thought.

He motioned for me to go on ahead. “Walk with me.”

“I’ll find her myself.” I headed off toward the door that led to a stairwell.

My imagination swirled with what kind of client I’d find her with, what kind of compromising position.

Had last night meant nothing? We’d literally made love for over an hour in my Jacuzzi and then continued to make love in the shower.

Then, we’d driven to Huntington City Beach. I’d shared one of my most precious moments with her.

Did all that mean nothing? Because it meant everything to me.

Yet she’d snuck back here.

I could feel Richard’s glare on my back as he followed me, probably getting a kick out of me trying to find my way around.

We descended into the lower level. Learning my way around was relatively easy, but knowing what to say to Lotte was an entirely different challenge.

Eventually we reached the lower level and the scent of vanilla mixed with incense hit me. It was the familiar scent I remembered from when I’d visited over two weeks ago.

Just two weeks.

And I was already possessive of her.

Along the dimly lit hallway was a row of doors, lights above several of them. I guessed that meant they were occupied.

“Which one?” I turned to Richard, sophisticated enough not to interrupt a scene.

I just didn’t wantmywoman touching another man in any scenario, which was fair.

“Allow me,” said Richard, moving by me and walking up to a door.

He knocked lightly and then opened it just wide enough to slip through into the room, making sure I couldn’t see past him. A few seconds later he reemerged, backing out.
