She quirked a brow. “Now that you’ve found her—”

“I broke it off,” I admitted.

“Why?”

“I was afraid I’d be torn apart by the press.”

“I’m glad you ended it.”

“You are?”

“Don’t ever see her again.”

That made my gut twist. “Did you just pull a Cameron on me?”

“Yes.”

I brushed a hand over my face to steady myself.

“You’re cute together,” she said playfully.

“I went to Chrysalis to see her earlier.”

“What happened?”

“I believed she had left that place.”

“I can see that.”

“You’ve met your match.”

“You need a session with your brother.”

“My history is holding me back?”

“Honestly, maybe your ego.”

“Wow, come out and say it, why don’t you.”

“Right.”

“There’s this brilliant scientist at Enthrall. I met him my first week there. The client was treated by both Scarlet and Lotte. They helped him work through his traumatic childhood. No other type of therapy had helped, and it was his last resort. They gave him his life back. He went on to discover a significant finding in the universe that changes the way we see the solar system.”

“Lotte’s work is important,” I said. “That’s what you’re telling me.”

“Her name will never be associated with some of the world’s most important endeavors. But her touch is there, nevertheless. These women are unsung heroes.”

Mia had such an innocent way of seeing things.

“Lotte’s also forgiving,” said Mia.

“She’s many things.”
