“True.”
“This would be an extraordinary addition to our brand.” He grinned at me. “Seriously, Henry, I can see myself drinking this all the time. You sure I didn’t inspire you?”
“Everything inspires me,” I said.
Lotte, for one.
Cameron drank the rest of the tea and then smacked his lips to confirm he liked it. “That trip to Florida was good for you.”
Trying to get anything by this man was impossible. He’d probably guessed how I felt about Lotte.
He studied my face. “I hear things are good between you.”
He couldn’t help himself, always making guesses that were usually astoundingly accurate.
“Listen,” he said, “Lotte visited my Beverly Hills practice to check out the place.”
I rested my elbows on my knees. “I see.”
“She’d planned on becoming a fulltime therapist before.”
“Before what?”
“You came on the scene.”
“I want to make sure she’s making the best decision for her,” I said.
“Who abducted my brother and replaced him with an alien?”
We chuckled at the truth in that; I was expressing emotions and he wasn’t used to it.
He wanted to protect Lotte, even from me, which was why I sensed he wanted to dig around a little more. More questions were looming.
We heard a knock at the door.
Jen stood there, looking a little sheepish. Cameron was too damn handsome for his own good.
She beamed at us. “Henry, you have a visitor in the foyer. Lilly Vergara.”
I swapped a wary glance with Cameron.
“Is she alone?” asked Cameron.
“I believe so.”
“Send her up,” I said.
Cameron lifted the empty cup and carried it over to the side table. “Want me to stay?”
I got up and walked over to my desk, standing in front of it. “Sure.”
Both of us focused on the door. Cameron tucked his hands into his pockets, ready to confront whoever appeared.
“I can’t believe Reese has sent her daughter again,” he said, his voice terse.
“This is my territory. She won’t have the upper hand this time.”
“Upper hand?” He shot me a curious glance.
