“Wait a second,” said Richard, pushing up and strolling over to the balcony. He glanced down and his expression grew tight with concern.

He spun round to face de Sade. “You went in with them?”

De Sade gave a nod. “And a silent partner who will never be known.”

That sent a shudder up my spine.

“We will of course continue to visit Enthrall,” added de Sade. “This endeavor, this new place, will give us the freedom to indulge in our personal tastes.”

Richard stared at him. “Tell me you didn’t buy Pendulum?”

Ireached over to reassure Richard, squeezing his hand.

Because everyone new Pendulum was bad news.Everyone.The club’s reputation for favoring Doms and exploiting submissives was legendary.

Not that long ago, Shay had even had to rescue Rue from that dangerous establishment.

De Sade could be a dick, but he wasn’t evil. His focus returned to me, his expression serious.

I reached for my glass, lifted it to my mouth and took a gulp of champagne.

He’d just offered me a multi-million dollar position.

At fucking Pendulum.

“Cameron wouldn’t approve,” said Richard.

De Sade arched a brow. “Cam’s invested in his philanthropy. He’ll hardly notice.”

“Oh, he’ll notice,” I replied.

“He still wields power over everyone,” added Richard, coming to his best friend’s defense.

“Cameron encouraged Shay to date you,” I told Jake. “He’s been good to you.”

De Sade genuinely acted surprised.

“I’m not ready to leave Enthrall,” I added.

“Hear me out,” he said.

Richard sat down next to me, quietly seething.

It was my turn to go peer over the balcony. I held my breath when I saw Greyson Grantchester, that familiar charisma shining bright.

That’s where I recognized the license plate from—Greyson’s Aston Martin.

Beside Greyson sat the beautiful Atticus Sinclair, his tattooed hands hinting at his darker side. He was a young doppelganger to Marlon Brando—and had the kind of charm that could get him access anywhere.

Two dangerously gorgeous Doms just hanging out with de Sade like them being here wasn’t threatening at all.

A trifecta of influence.

They peered up and raised their champagne flutes in a toast like I’d accepted the job.

The allure of temptation.

I’d always lived in Scarlet’s shadow.
