Richard waved his hand to decline it and then threw shade my way for accepting the wristwatch.
I waited until we were back in his Mercedes before I said, “He slid it onto my wrist.” I smirked. “Sure you don’t want that football?”
His shoulders slumped. “She was into it.”
“She was.”
“I’m getting old,” he said as he started the engine. “The darker side of what we do used to be addictive.”
“Still is.” I elbowed him playfully. “You’re just settled now.”
“True.”
“As long as everyone wants to be there,” I reasoned.
“Want my opinion?”
“You’ll give it either way.”
“The timing of you meeting Henry couldn’t be more perfect. The thought of you at Pendulum?” he said, shaking his head. “I’m not sure that’s your future.”
I let out a long breath. I needed to see Henry one final time. I wanted to talk with him face to face to see if he and I had any kind of chance.
“Can you drop me off at Cole Tower?” I asked.
“I’d drive you to the moon and back if you wanted.”
I giggled. “Downtown is fine.”
Richard smirked. “I need a fucking cold shower.”
We laughed uncontrollably for a while over that eccentric meeting—both of us wound tight from arousal.
The drive to downtown L.A. was super fun with Richard. He was the funniest man I knew, his wit sharp and insightful—the reason why he and Cameron balanced each other out so well.
Whenever I spent time with either of them, I learned something new, their comprehension of current affairs on point.
Much like Henry.
I leaned over in my seat and gave Richard a big hug.
“Henry will drive you home, right?” he asked, glancing at the sidewalk where pedestrians hurried by.
I hoped so. Otherwise, I’d be stranded.
I reached for my door handle. “I can always Uber.”
“Go get your guy.”
My thoughts rushed back to de Sade’s home on Mulholland Drive and that sweet submissive we’d left behind. “She seemed happy, right?”
“Amelia?” Richard gave a nod.
“De Sade told us she came from Pendulum,” I said. “I should have talked with her.”
“She seemed kind of busy.” He arched a brow.
“They’re rogues. But they take care of their subs.”
