Arching my back, I surrendered to a blinding climax delivered by my own hand as an orgasmic gift forhim.

Iknew enough about dopamine to realize that events like last night at Chrysalis could become addictive.

In all honesty, as much as the event enthralled—and it did—I’d found Lotte far more fascinating. The memories of our night there would stay with me forever.

We’d become even closer, this magnetic attraction to her fast becoming an obsession. My passion for Lotte was all-consuming. Every decision I made had me mentally checking to see what Lotte might have to say about it. I trusted her opinion.

Last night, she’d agreed to be my mistress—even though she deserved so much more.

It proved what a complete asshole I’d been to her.

I shook my head to refocus.

Sitting on the patio and sipping coffee by my pool had become a new tradition. I liked it out here. The view was relaxing and I kind of liked the house, too. Dex sat at my feet, having fallen in love with the place a whole lot faster.

Shay appeared in that covert fashion I should be used to by now.

He waved a sheet of paper at me. “Are you sure about this?”

“I’ve made up my mind.”

“Blow everything up for a woman?”

I pointed at my speech for the Gala. “This is how you have your cake and eat it, too.”

“Have you spoken to Lotte about this?” he asked.

“Thought it would be a fun reveal.”

After all she had endured, this felt like a decent plan—as gentlemanly as it was daring.

He stared at me for the longest time. “Why now?”

“Intuition.”

“You and Cameron, you really go out on a limb for us all, don’t you?”

I grinned up at him.

“You’ve gone fucking soft,” he huffed, with an amused expression.

The appearance of my butler, Alstead, had us refocusing in his direction. Behind him walked my guests, Reese and her daughter Lilly.

“Jesus,” Shay muttered.

“Go brief Kinsley,” I told him.

My lawyer waited patiently for us in the conference room.

Shay walked by Reese and Lilly without making eye contact and disappeared inside.

My emotions were locked down.

Understandably, they appeared impressed as they took in the sprawling lawn and in-ground pool. Or maybe the interior had them dazzled—towering statues tend to do that.

I pushed up and threw them a welcoming wave.

Reese brightened. “Not too shabby, Cole.”
