“My team is on it.”
I noticed his pained expression. “What?”
“Avoid dating for now.”
“Sexpiange?” That made me smirk.
The thought of a woman trying to get close to me was amusing.
I’d been too busy with work—and too uncomfortable with the idea of commitment.
I hesitated to tell Shay about dinner with Lotte tonight. No real point in sharing this with him. She’d made it clear this evening would be romance free.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about that.
Cameron had let her into his inner circle. That meant she could be trusted.
“Did you have breakfast with Charlotte?” I asked.
“Yeah, she swung by with some questions about Chrysalis.”
I was intrigued. “She visited me, too.”
“She’s fun, right?”
“What did you talk about?”
Shay became guarded. “The usual. My life. Hers. She filled me in on how Enthrall and Chrysalis are doing.”
“Did she mention me?”
He lowered his gaze. “What happened between you two at the party? You disappeared at the same time.”
“Nothing.”
He studied me with the respect of an old friend.
“Will you please focus on our corporate spy?” I said.
“You’re the one who mentioned her.”
I glanced toward the billboard. “Dandelion Diva’s making a point with that.”
He made a dismissive gesture. “They made sure we could see it from here.”
Taunting us.
I met his gaze. “If I spend billions in developing a product, throw in research dollars and market testing, and our spy steals our plans, they could create a similar product. Beat us to market.”
“Which would be a financial catastrophe. I get it.”
“I want this handled.”
He gave a patient nod. “By the way, I’m going to switch out your driver.”
“Griffin?”
“His background check revealed his dad died in Afghanistan.”
