“He’s cute!”

“He’s a rascal.” He knelt to grab the tennis ball and threw it across the lawn. Dex scampered off to retrieve it.

Henry looked me up and down. “You’ll blend in nicely.”

“Is this a family event?”

“Not a problem, is it?”

“You could have warned me!”

“Don’t be dramatic.”

“What’s the occasion?”

“Don’t mind the show.”

“What show?”

“You and me.” He guided me across the lawn. “I need you to deflect someone.”

“That’s why you invited me?”

“You’re perfect for this mission.”

“Is this revenge for me inviting you to Imperial?”

He chuckled. “This is far more perverted.”

I held back.

“I’m kidding.” He tugged me along. “Cameron will be here soon. Everyone loves him.”

I couldn’t wait to see him.

Henry studied me. “You’re not nervous, are you?”

I recognized a few public figures. “Just don’t introduce me to your parents.”

Henry wove his fingers between mine and led me across the lawn. “You mean like this?”

Oh no.

Henry let go of my hand. “Mom, this is Charlotte Chamberlain.” He nudged me forward a little. “Lotte, this is Victoria Cole.”

“An honor to meet you,” I said.
