Maybe I could help him with that.

The warm front had allowed me to wear my Ralph Lauren floral Georgette blouse with jeans. It was always fun to see the reaction of friends to my varied wardrobe of classic styles—and my secret passion for Uggs.

My fashion sense was as versatile as my nature.

At the front door, I used the lion head knocker to announce my arrival.

Surprisingly, Henry answered.

He looked astonished to see me. “Hello.”

“Just wanted to drop this off,” I said.

Dex popped his cute head out, panting with his tongue hanging. Henry grabbed his collar to prevent him from escaping.

“Hey, Dex.” My hands were full so I couldn’t pet him. “I thought you had a butler?” I said brightly.

Henry glanced at the paper bag in my hand. “I sent him home.”

I raised the take-out bag. “Chinese food.”

“Oh, nice.”

“And—” I showed him the wrapped gift. “A housewarming present.”

He gave me a thousand-watt grin. “Thank you, Lotte! Come on in. It’s great to see you.”

Sensing someone else was here, I second guessed my decision.

Henry looked devastatingly handsome in a white shirt that hung over his designer jeans, his causal style a refreshing change.

I stepped inside. “You have a guest?”

He hesitated. “Yes.”

I held my breath, waiting for him to explain. “I don’t want to intrude.”

He quirked a brow.

“I wasn’t sure if you…” I cringed, reluctant to say the rest.

He frowned as though mulling over how much to share. “I have to tackle something I’ve been putting off.”

“I can go. Keep the food.”

“I’d love you to stay.” He gestured for me to follow.

“I can leave. I won’t be offended.”

“Stay.” He eased the bag and gift out of my hands, our fingers brushing.

I felt that familiar tingle at his touch.

I was unsure if he was just being kind, but then I remembered that wasn’t Henry at all. He could always be counted on to be honest.

I followed him through the house. “How are you settling in?”

“Fine. Considering.” He shook his head.
