“A lot of stress.”
I shrugged. “I’m willing to be a fuck buddy for now.”
“You just came out and said it.”
I smiled at him. “Not with you.”
“Of course not.”
“I enjoy sex, obviously.”
“Is there anyone in your life you’re hoping will fulfill that privileged role?”
“Not right now, no.”
He blinked at me.
“It’s been months,” I admitted.
“Since you’ve had sex?”
“Since I broke up with Austin.”
“I’m asking too many personal questions.”
“We’re at a place now where we can be open.”
He gave a slow nod. “After this, let’s stay in touch. Have dinner from time to time, that kind of thing.”
“I’d love that.”
“We get each other.”
“We really do.”
We took a brief break from conversation to finish off our meal.
Finally, Henry pushed back from the table. “Let’s get some sleep.”
“Great idea.”
After he signed the check, we headed up to our rooms.
We agreed to wake at seven and head out immediately afterwards.
He followed me into my room and then walked through the adjoining door, disappearing for the night.
I stood next to the closed door with my hand pressed against it, listening for him. My gut was telling me that he might change his mind about taking me with him.
“Lotte?” said a voice behind me.
“Jesus!” I jolted and pivoted to face him.
He swallowed a smile. “I thought it would be less invasive to come in this door.”
“I was just…”
He closed the gap between us and rested his palms above my head, trapping me between his firm chest and the connecting door. “I want to thank you.”
