My interest was piqued that he’d come after me. I’d wanted him to, of course, but I’d already stepped inside the secret elevator before he’d caught up.

Anyway, where I went, he wouldn’t have been allowed to follow.

“There’s so much to enjoy onthislevel, Atticus,” I said, trying to allay his interest.

“There’s forbidden.” He raised a brow. “And then there’sforbidden.”

“Men always want more.”

“That’s an insult women earn.”

I ignored that jab. “Have you explored the art pieces? Pendulum just purchased an installment from a new Italian designer. It’s a weird looking chair. A submissive is showcased in the center of the chamber on an upside-down seat. Exposed exquisitely. If you’re into fine dining, you may eat her pussy for all to see.”

“Sounds delicious.”

“The possibilities of what you can do to her are endless.”

“I much prefer chandelier sin.”

“What’s that?”

He waved that off like it was an afterthought. “Would you consider sitting in that chair for me?”

I threw my head back in another laugh. “There are always consequences that come with sinful pleasures.”

“Some are worth the risk.”

“And you love risk,” I taunted, glancing at his inked hand. “Why the snake?”

“Why not?”

“There’s a story there.”

“Care to elaborate on your theory?”

“An act of rebellion?”

“A far more interesting reason.”

“You give sophistication a devilish name.”

“Flattery is usually dished out when someone wants something.” He brushed a strand of hair off my shoulder.

My skin tingled beneath his touch, like it was nothing and the consequences didn’t include him being thrown into a fish tank filled with piranhas.

Just like my husband threatened to do to me.

I changed the subject. “You don’t trust easily?”

He smirked at that. “We’re havingthisconversationatPendulum.”

“The millionaire’s place to unwind.” I tutted. “You don’t have better things to do with your money?”

“Inevitably.”

“And yet you’re here. Dressed to the nines.”

“Alexander McQueen?” He gestured toward my dress. “I imagine a design house personally created this for you. Just a wild guess.”
