“You and your friends seem to like it,” she said bitterly. “Getting to live out your fantasies.”

“And you,” I reasoned. “You get to dabble in yours.” I read her expression and added, “No, not dabble, you savor the debauchery.”

“I host parties for my husband. Nothing more.”

“What kind?”

“We play, a little.”

“Orgies.”

“Sometimes.”

“You’re a filthy girl who gets off on watching people.”

“You’d like to believe that.”

“Your husband owns Pendulum.” I watched for her reaction.

She looked horrified. “Did he tell you that?”

“And that makes you just as bad as everyone else,” I said.

“I’m not.”

“Worse, then?”

“What do you mean?”

“It means you thrive on other people’s suffering.”

She slapped me.

I grabbed her wrist to prevent her from trying that again. I liked the occasional slap.I liked it a lot, actually.It triggered my kink—rough sex in public places, but that thought had no place here.

I kept an ironclad grip on her wrist. Her eyelids fluttered and she slipped into subspace, looking aroused, her jaw agape, her sighs giving her away.

She snapped out of it, and I saw panic etched on her face. Her eyes went wide with realization. “I should get Ben out of here.”

“Only, Aemon would know it was me who got him out.”

Her eyes filled with tears. “He knows about us.”

My chest suddenly felt tight. “You’re lovers?”

“No!” She lowered her voice. “He helped me with something.”

Her teary-eyed gaze proved she had a secret that hurt her.

“You texted me,” I said. “You invited me over with information.”
