She leaned toward me. “I’m a fan of your work.”

I arched a brow. “Which building?”

“The Landmark in Dubai.”

I offered a polite smile. “It was fun.”

“Fun! It’s terrifyingly high. I bet it was complicated.”

“I like complicated.”

Her mouth pouted in a tease. “How tall is it?”

“Eight hundred meters.”

“It’s the tower that catapulted you to fame.”

No, I had become more well known for my Virelli Hall. Wasn’t going to embarrass her, though.

“Look around,” I said. “No one knows or cares who I am.”

How I like it.

She gave me a lingering stare. “I do.”

“Anything you’ve done recently, Chloe, that you’re super proud of?”

Her expression changed, and my gut told me she was reluctant to share her profession. “Real estate.”

“Any interesting deals lately?”

She grinned. “Not looking for a new place, are you?”

“If I am, I’m guessing you’re the person I should talk to.” I reached out my hand. “Have a card?”

The fact she assumed I’d buy a place instead of creating my own home was interesting.

She looked uncomfortable. “Can I give you my number?”

“Later, perhaps.”

“What about a drink?” Her cute smile cut through the crap and almost convinced me not to listen to my gut, which was telling me something was off about her.

I raised my hand, and a waiter rushed over with a tray laden with champagne flutes. I accepted one and handed it over to Chloe.

“Thank you.” She took a sip and wrinkled her nose at the bubbles. “You don’t like champagne?”

“I’ve had a drink, and I’m driving.”

“Where do you live?” she asked.

“Not too far from here.”

It was the way she looked at me with an eager intensity in her gaze, and the subtle tension beneath it all that set off my intuition. She was pushing too hard, trying to get something more from me.

She smiled at me. “I’m eager to check out the rooms. How would you like to show me one of them, Greyson?”

Igave her a polite smile. “I had nothing to do with the décor.”Obviously.
