By that time, I wanted to bang my head against the wall.

Drakos: What in the actual fuck does that mean?

Sylvie: It means I can read your texts, evade giving you a straight answer, and then ignore you while I take care of what I need to. Let’s go to Luigi’s for dinner tonight

I texted Xander next.

Drakos: Where are you?

Xander: Out

Drakos: Who are you with?

Xander: People

Drakos: When you get back to the office, we’re going to have a long talk, and you’ll answer in more than one-word sentences

The bastard sent me a fucking thumbs-up emoji. For the next hour, I read the same contract three times without absorbing anything.

When I finally admitted defeat, I looked up to see Xander standing in my doorway. Sitting back, I glared at him. “Where have you been, and what were you doing with myfiancéethis morning?”

His lips twitched. Xander rarely smiled, so I knew he was enjoying my annoyance. “She asked me to run an errand with her. I was curious, so I went.”

I made an impatient motion with my hand. “So? Where did you go?”

“Wedding shoe shopping.”

I stared at him. “And?”

He leaned against the doorframe. “Before that, we stopped off at the OutKast clubhouse.”

My stomach dropped, and I pushed my chair out. “That woman is going to be the death of me.”

Ivan appeared next to Xander. “I watched Sylvie drag you and Diego into OutKast this morning, but you guys went out to the gazebo so I couldn’t eavesdrop. What the fuck happened?”

I turned and glared at him. “Youknewthey went to OutKast, and you didn’tfucking tell me?” I yelled.

Ivan’s eyebrows went up. “Milo was with them, so I thought you knew. I think our women are wearing him down. We might need to give him another assignment.”

Standing, I ripped off my Hermes silk tie and yanked off my jacket. Then I started pacing.

Roman walked by my office, glancing inside. He did a double-take and stopped at my door, eyeing us carefully. “What’s going on?”

Ivan turned to him. “What makes you think something is going on?”

Roman pointed to me. “I’ve never seen him take his jacket and tie off in the office before.”

I faced him. “Sylvie, Diego, and Xander went on a little field trip today. Would you like to know where they went?”

“Not particularly.”

I ignored him. “To the OutKast compound, and Milo knew about it but didn’t say shit.”

“Ah,” Roman murmured, his lips twisting as if trying not the smile.

Xander studied me. “Sylvie wanted to talk to the Grolier brothers in person.”

I rubbed my sternum, worry and reluctant admiration coursing through me. It was a strange feeling being consumed by a woman and worried out of my mind about her, yet admiring her cunning and independence. Sylvie was only submissive in bed—which turned me the fuck on—but I knew if I kept trying to control her outside the bedroom, I’d lose her. Reluctantly, I admitted to myself that I didn’twantto control her. Sighing loudly, I collapsed in my chair. Fuck, my grandfather was right.
