Page 25 of Just Is Not Enough

“Did he send you dick pics? Please tell me he did and share them with your friends.” Connor claps his hands together as though he’s praying.

Ender chimes in again from the other couch, his arm over his face again, “Please don’t.”

“No, he hasn’t, and I wouldn’t show you even if he did.”

“Joy killer. Then whatcanyou show me?”

I decide to only show him this morning’s pic hoping it’s enough to satisfy his nosiness.

“Oh okay. I get it now. I couldn’t turn down anything from that man, either. He’s hot. I bet he has a huge dick, doesn’t he? Can we share him?” Connor has no shame in asking blunt questions.

“No. Stay away from him you manwhore.” I nudge Connor off of me, smiling at his antics.

“Don’t slut shame me! When I find someone who measures up to my expectations, I’ll be monogamous. I refuse to settle for the bare minimum. Until then the world is my playground.”

I can’t argue with his logic. My phone chirps with a text message. I see it’s an unknown number.

Hey Kaden. It’s Jackson

Lanie's boyfriend

Faith gave me your number when I was over there the other night. Hope it’s okay

I wanted to take Lanie out for her birthday and then all of us meet at the Garden

Can you and your friends join us? I know Lanie would want you all there

Faith had already told me the plans and that Jackson asked for my number. It feels weird to text him knowing he doesn’t know about Luke and me…hooking up? It feels a little more than that now, but according to Lanie he hasn’t said anything about it. I don’t want to ask Luke obviously, because it’s nothing to talk about yet and I don’t want him to think he has to do anything for me.

“You guys are still coming to The Garden for Lanie’s birthday, right?” I ask the guys.

“Of course, wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Connor is quick to respond.

“Who will be there?” Ender isn’t as eager.

“Just us, Jackson, probably his cousin Dakota. Not sure anyone else will be there.”

“Your boyfriend isn’t coming?” Ender is moodier than usual today.

“He’s not my boyfriend and he hasn’t said anything about it, so I assume not. Plus, he’s super busy with the restaurant. I doubt it he has the time.”

“Fine, I’ll go.”

We’ve learned to ignore his mood swings over the years. Ender has had a rough life, albeit he is only in his late 20s. We can’t fault him for having shitty parents. We’ve learned the difference between Ender wanting to engage with people and wanting to be alone to destress. This is one of those in-between stages where he doesn’t want to be alone but would rather not converse if he doesn’t have to.

Hi Jackson! Yes, we’re all going to meet up with y’all. Let me know what time you plan on getting there with Lanie.

That’s great. Thanks, and can’t wait to meet you officially *smiley face emoji*

Lanie and Jackson have been stuck together like glue that she hasn’t hung out with any of us, except Faith by default because they live together. I don’t blame her though. She’s hopelessly in love already. I’m not even in love with Luke and I want to spend all my time with him if it wasn’t for the restaurant keeping him so busy.

Just one more month…
