I bit, letting out an exaggerated, dramatic moan as those flavors exploded on my tongue again, and all he did was watch me with that tense jaw. “You like my fucking ex more than me? Now you’re just being rude, but you smell really sweet so I believe you.”
“Actually, I don’t. Your ex bewitched this bracelet so I’d have to listen to you having sex, which was embarrassing and horrible.” I took another bite and wiggled happily from the taste, which made it easy to play off the tiny squirm when he licked his lips.
“You heard me fucking? I thought you were being sarcastic when you said you heard how good I was to her. What did you hear exactly?”
“Just a lot of moans, a lot of unnaturally fast banging. Sounded like you were both having a good time. She fixed it though, so I don’t have to listen anymore... but don’t forget I saw you, too,” I said quietly, sitting back and rubbing my chest as the memory made it tighten. “Different girl, same act. You made me watch.”
“I thought it would turn you on and you’d want me. Sounds stupid as fuck when I say it out loud.” His eyes dropped down to my hand as I rubbed, then slowly raised back up to mine. “Sorry.”
I honestly didn’t know what to say to that without sounding like a pathetic little virgin, so I stood up and started cleaning. “It’s in the past. I’m glad you have someone now. Do you need anything else before I go?”
“Yes.” Alaris stood, pulling me in by my arm before nuzzling his nose into my neck. “Be sweet for me, Sweets.”
Not one part of me wanted to know how loudly my heart was beating so close to those fangs. I didn’t want to ruin it, didn’t want him to let me go. Those arms were strong and warm wrapped around me, those lips smooth as they brushed my skin, and I allowed myself to melt into that feeling. “Sweet enough for you, Heir?”
“Yes.” His voice was deeper than normal, thick with arousal and a hunger only one thing could fix, yet he didn’t bite. “My sweet girl.”
“Alaris,” I whispered, fisting a hand in his hair. I was so close to baring my neck, blood thrumming and body calling to him in ways I didn’t understand. “I—”
His room door flung open with a bang, Kellian and Renzo stumbling inside as they laughed about whatever conversation they were having, and when they finally took in the room I knew this moment with Alaris was over. “Oh, shit.”
“Yeah, Ren. Oh shit,” Alaris hissed, backing away with his hands tight at his sides and his fangs peeking out through his lips. “As in shit timing.”
“Fuck, did you bite her?” Kell asked, walking forward like Alaris wouldn’t rip his face off. “Nope. No blood, no marks... disappointed vampire look. Damn. Guess we really botched that, huh? Want us to leave and you can go back to what you were doing?”
“No,” I said quickly, face burning. “I was... just leaving. I’ll see you three at dinner.”
I bowed like an idiot and raced out of there, not stopping until I was safely in my room with the door bolted and my fingers on my neck.
What in the hell just happened?
Chapter Sixteen:
Alaris
Ihated meetings. Especiallythe ones where I sat around a table with the Alphas and other Heirs and we all got to listen to my father speak for two hours straight about shit no one cared about. It would have been different if he’d spoken about things wedidcare about: the castle, its residents, the bloodwhores and how well they were truly being cared for down there, the nearby towns we helped feed. Any of those topics would have been more important than hearing him brag about the punishments he’d had to dish out in the last week.
