“He’s a Creed,” their Father rushes out. “Don’t doubt how strong our genes are, son. There is no too soon. That baby will be born.”
I keep waiting for Draven to say something snarky like he usually does, but he seems to be more speechless than usual.
Couldn’t imagine why.
I squeeze his hand as I meet his eyes for the first time. “Are you happy for us, Dray?”
“Absolutely.” His voice is a little thicker now, that silk turning into something that warms my chest and tells me it will all be okay. He’ll make sure of it. “I’m going to be the best fucking uncle you’ve ever seen, little keeper.”
It’s good enough because it’s all we’re allowed to have right now, but there’s a huge part of me that wants to kiss him and refuse to stop until someone pulls a gun. Because no, he won’t be the best uncle I’ve ever seen.
He’ll be the best father.
Nineteen
Immediately after brunch, Alex leads me to his room with a soft touch and a strained smile. I know what’s coming. Everyone else might think he’s taking me somewhere private for celebratory sex, but there aren’t enough mimosas in the world for that. For either of us. Now that I’ve had Dray, I can’t imagine wanting anyone else — least of all Alexander, and if he wouldn’t fuck me before, he won’t now.
So it’s not about celebratory sex.
He’s going to yell at me.
Bracing myself, I cross my arms the moment he closes his door and we’re alone. “You have questions,” I say flatly. “I understand that. Ask away.”
“Of course I do. What the fuck, Sullivan? How? Who?? Did you fake it? Because if this is fake he will find out when you don’t actually give birth to a baby!”
He puts both hands on his head and begins pacing and muttering about how Morella is going to kill him, which makes me smirk a little. He really doesn’t know.
“It’s not fake, and it’ll be a Creed heir. Just not yours.”
“What d—” He freezes, spinning around to face me again as it finally dawns on him. “Draven? You two — when?”
“It started the night of your mom’s ridiculous party,” I explain, and because I’m petty, I add, “He’s put enough Creed DNA in me since then to change my Ancestry results, so maybe you should thank him. He saved all four of us.”
His face crinkles at my description, but even now I can see relief on his face. “Why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t he?”
The door opens before I can respond and Dray looks me over cautiously. “I suggest you lower your voice when you’re speaking to her, Alexander. That’s the mother of my child.”
