I woketo the sun shining on my face.

I didn’t know what time it was, but I guessed it was late morning based on the position of the sun and the fact that I woke up alone in bed.

Did Dominic wake up early to go to work this morning?

It was late by the time we got home from the bar. I had been a little buzzed from the alcohol, but I did remember bits and pieces.

I groaned.

I remember getting home and asking Dominic if he would fuck me.

He laughed, stripped me of my clothes, and pushed me onto the bed.

We didn’t have sex, but that would explain why I woke up naked in bed.

I also remember Dominic forcing me to drink water and take some pills before going to sleep, which probably explained why my hangover wasn’t as bad this morning as I had expected.

I wasn’t even aware of him getting up this morning, and usually, I had some inkling.

Lucy would probably be here already. Slowly, I sat up and wrapped the covers around my naked chest, unsure of what I wanted to do next.

A low male voice from downstairs caught my attention.

Dominic was home.

And he was in the kitchen.

I held still and tried to listen for who he might be talking to, but when no one responded, I assumed he was on his phone.

I didn’t hear the usual noise Lucy made when she was here, and I wondered if she had gone out. Probably to the store.

What was he doing at home at this time, and would he stay?

I was excited about the prospect.

So excited, I didn’t bother to put clothes on. I wrapped the sheets around me and walked down the stairs. I peeked my head in first to see if Dominic had company, but when nothing seemed out of place, I walked further in.

Dominic was sitting on the barstool by the island, but by himself, and, judging by how clean and empty the kitchen was, I’d say Lucy wasn’t even here yet.

How odd.

“Are you going to keep hovering by the kitchen, wildcat, or will you come in?” Dominic asked without turning around to look at me.

“Where’s Lucy?” I asked, still standing where I was.

“I gave her the day off with Colt. It’s just you and me today.”

I smiled a little. “Really?”

“Really.”

He turned around, and when he caught sight of me in nothing but sheets, his eyes heated. I squirmed a little on my feet. The memory of him laying me down on the island and feasting on me weeks before entered my mind.

I wouldn’t mind a repeat of that.

I blinked away the memory.

“You look happy this morning,” he commented, slowly standing up from his seat.
