There should be a fucking reward for having this much self-control.

Once she got in the last bite, she grabbed the napkin nearby and wiped her lips delicately.

Everything about this girl was delicate.

A perfect little doll.

“Done?” I asked.

She nodded and cleared her throat before she spoke. “Yeah. I’m done.”

I stood up and held my hand out to her. She didn’t do anything for a moment, then carefully placed her hand in mine. I looked down at it, taking in the stark contrast between us, from her pale skin to my tan skin, from the gentle curve of the back of her palm to my own hand, once filled with blood.

Innocent to monster.

I helped her up, and she tilted her head back to look me in the eye.

I focused on the light brown and green swirl of her irises before I led us out of the room.

“Where are we going?” she asked, running a little, trying to match my pace.

I wrapped my arm around her waist, bringing us to the elevator and pressing the button.

She tensed, but I didn’t give her a chance to think about it, squeezing her to my side and making sure she stayed firmly put. There would be no doubt in anybody’s mind that she was with me.

The elevator doors opened, and I quickly ushered us inside, watching the numbers blink as we made our way down to the lobby. I led her out the same way we had come in last night and found Blue in his black Cadillac Escalade.

She tensed.

“Dominic?”

“Come on. We don’t have all day to just stand around.”

I opened the back door for her and helped her climb in, letting my hand curve around the swell of her ass.

I heard her suck in a sharp breath and I pretended not to notice. Before getting into the car, I reached into my pocket for the drug I had prepared.

“Take me back to my house,” I said to Blue.

He nodded.

Emmy tensed and turned to me. I knew she was getting ready for a fight. “Your house? What are you talking about?”

I turned to her and made quick work with my hand. The needle pierced the skin on her neck, and her eyes bulged out from the sensation.

“Dominic,” was all she managed to say before her eyes closed, and the drug quickly took effect. I drew her into my arms, letting her head rest on my chest and ignoring the feeling of rightness that washed over me from having her so close.

Blue looked back at me in the rearview mirror before facing forward once more and taking off.

EMMY

There wassomething pressing against my eyelids that made it hard for me to open them.

I let out a small groan and turned to my side, only for a slight headache to bloom at the back of my head.

Using my hands, I tried to take the weight off my eyes, but there was nothing there.
