The kneeling angel on his right pec caught my attention, the same way it always did, and I wondered why he had gotten it in the first place. It was easily one of the most detailed tattoos on his body, though the rest were beautiful too.

There was just something about this one…

He looked over at me.

I quickly averted my eyes and spat out the toothpaste.

Finally, after he dressed me as he had done yesterday morning, he led me down to the kitchen.

Lucy was already here, and she looked up from where she was cleaning when she heard us, smiling.

“Oh, good. You’re up. Have some breakfast, okay?”

I didn’t know who she was talking to, me or him. It seemed like both of us, but it was Dominic who answered her.

“Thank you. It smells great. Will you be joining us?”

She shook her head. “Already ate with Colt. You two enjoy.”

She left us alone in the kitchen.

Dominic piled a plate with food.

I shouldn’t have been surprised when he only grabbed one plate, but I was. Already expecting it, I didn’t react when he sat down at the dining room table and brought me onto his lap.

I sighed and let him satisfy his little feeding fetish, shaking my head.

His lips twitched, and I could tell he was amused by my response.

Once he was done feeding us, he stood, planted a hard kiss on my lips, and said, “Be a good girl today.”

Then he was gone.

Off to rule the world, like one does when one owns it and everyone in it.

I could only stare after him for a while, unsure of how I was feeling.

* * *

I was feeling trapped, was what I was feeling.

Since Lucy didn’t have permission to take me out of the house today, she couldn’t.

She tried to call Dominic, but wherever the hell he went off to for the day kept him busy. He didn’t answer any of her calls, and if he called her back, she didn’t tell me.

Pretty soon, six o’clock came, and Lucy left for the day with the man who I had learned was her husband.

Lucy, this sweet lady, was married to a tough biker guy with more tattoos than Dominic, whose face would probably crack if he ever put a smile on it.

It was pretty late now. Ten o’clock, the last time I checked. I didn’t want to look at the clock again.

I walked around the house, feeling a sense of déjà vu.

Unlike the last time, I didn’t have any weapons.

Those were now locked away by Lucy whenever she left for the day.

It was as if Dominic was afraid I would attempt a second attack on him.
