I laughed as Emmy trailed off.
“It’s okay,” I called out. “I know Kai had a past before me.”
“Still, I didn’t mean to sound so insensitive.”
I walked out of the stall. As I predicted, the leggings were a little snug, but otherwise comfortable.
I folded the beer-covered leggings up and set them on the sink before turning to the two girls.
“You didn’t,” I said. “It’s not like Kai lied to me. And if they had history, then I’m sure it was a long time ago.”
“It still doesn’t give her the right to push the bottle at you.”
I shrugged. I wasn’t so sure it was on purpose, but the last thing I wanted to do was start something.
I turned to Ryleigh. “Why do you carry leggings around in your purse?”
Not that I wasn’t thankful for them, but she seemed to be more prepared than I thought anyone should be.
Ryleigh looked down, blushing red.
Emmy laughed and slapped her thigh. I looked at her strangely, smiling a little at her reaction.
“It’s because of Roman, isn’t it?” Emmy asked.
Ryleigh nodded slightly. “He ripped my leggings once in the, um, truck, and I was forced to walk out with his sweater wrapped around my waist.”
Emmy laughed harder, and I smiled. They were obviously close, and I hoped we would get to a point where I would also be close to them.
She nudged me. “Did you know Roman stalked Ryleigh when they first met?”
My eyes widened at that, and Ryleigh gasped. “You’re one to talk. Show her your tattoo.”
“What tattoo?” I asked.
Emmy leaned back and lifted her shirt. On her left rib cage were the wordsDominic Maddenin beautiful cursive letters.
“Oh, wow.”
“Yup. My man is one neurotic fucker,” Emmy said, sounding almost… proud.
I laughed, thankful that at least Kai didn’t inherit this fetish from his dad. I didn’t know what I would do if he wanted to tattoo me.
“It’s beautiful,” I said.
She smiled at me. “Thank you. Dominic did it himself.”
“Yeah?” I asked.
“Yeah.”
“We should probably get back to the men before they send someone in to look for us,” Ryleigh said, and I agreed.
We walked out of the room, and the girls hooked their arms through mine as we made our way back to the table.
A new waitress came by with new beer bottles as we sat. I looked around for the woman who had served us before but didn’t see her. Did Kai kick her out?
Had she really done it on purpose?
