This was one of those rare times when I woke up before him.
Usually, Kai would be up and about first, already brewing the coffee.
My heart expanded so much, it almost hurt.
He was just so beautiful, even when he was asleep and I couldn’t see those magnetic blue eyes of his.
I ran my fingers up and down the exposed skin of his back before tracing the outline of the sunflower tattoo on his bicep.
My eyes roamed to the cherry blossom tree on his back with a few flower petals on the branches.
I wondered what the meaning behind this tree was, and why there were so few petals.
It was beautiful, nonetheless.
I frowned, realizing I was seeing flowers I was sure weren’t there before. How could I have missed him adding more to it?
So this tattoo wasn’t finished.
How interesting.
I let my finger move over what seemed to be two new flowers on his back, not touching them. These flowers were tattooed to bloom wider than the other ones.
How pretty.
His eyes opened then, startling me.
Despite having just woken up, his eyes were a clear blue that stood out in the morning light.
I smiled. “Good morning.”
“Good morning, pretty girl. Do you know how fucking good it feels to wake up with you in my arms?”
If it was anything like the way I felt with him nearby—safe and content—then, yeah, I got the feeling. I looked away from his eyes shyly.
He chuckled softly. “So fucking cute. You’re gonna stay by my side forever, aren’t you?”
This wasn’t the first time he’d used that word—forever.
Did that mean he loved me?
I was afraid to ask, and I was afraid of confessing my feelings too soon.
It was too soon, wasn’t it?
To feel this intensely for another person.
I looked back at him and traced the outline of his lips with my fingers. They curved in a smile before he opened his mouth and sucked a finger into his mouth. I felt it all the way down to my clit.
“Kai,” I breathed.
He let go of my finger with a pop of his lips. “You fell asleep on me last night, pretty girl.”
I blushed. I remembered him taking me to bed and me demanding that we have sex right away… and then nothing else.
“It was really late,” I explained. His smile widened. At least he didn’t seem mad. “Way past my bedtime.” I thought it was more so because I was drunk than I was sleepy, but I wasn’t going to mention that.
“Do you have a bedtime?”
