I didn’t know how I would be as a mom, not the way I was, and not with the role model I’d had growing up, but Kai made me wish for impossible things.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and clung to him.

He whispered something against my skin that I didn’t quite catch while we both lay there, trying to stay tethered to reality.

I lookedat myself in the mirror as I brushed my hair.

I was ready to go to meet Blue.

He had to work late last night, so I didn’t get a chance to see him when we left the bar.

I missed my best friend.

The only thing I had to do was try to figure out how to contain my mass of wavy blond strands that didn’t do as they were told.

That was when I noticed it.

My eyes widened as I stepped closer to the mirror, looking at my shoulder.

I was wearing a nice pale-blue sundress that Kai had bought me online, which fit surprisingly well, paired with my trusty black Converses—of course—but now…

Ah, hell.

If I showed up like this, Blue might try to fight Kai.

I grimaced as Kai walked in, dressed in dark jeans and a black T-shirt.

He looked good enough to eat.

I glared at him instead, making him pull up short.

“What?”

“You bit me, and now there’s a mark!”

His shoulders relaxed, a heat of possessiveness in his eyes.

“Ah, so you found it.”

“Found it? How am I supposed to wear this dress now?”

I worked hard not to show my emotions. I probably failed because he was smiling a little when he pushed me up on the counter and stood between my legs.

He pulled the straps of the dress down until my boobs jutted out.

His blue eyes darkened at the sight.

“You’ll wear my mark with pride.”

I sputtered. “I can’t see Blue with this on display.”

“Why not?” he asked.

“Why not? Because he’ll probably fight you.”

“You really think he can kick my ass?”
