“Frank Gallagher has her,” I said.

Now, whether he was taking her to Grigoriy Savkin or back to his house was anyone’s guess.

I didn’t fucking know where Grigoriy Savkin was, but I did know where the fancy-ass house of Frank Gallagher’s was. We had men watching the place in case Gemma’s mom and stepdad showed up there.

The men we sent to watch the place hadn’t called us to report anything, but fuck, I hope it was because they’d missed seeing her come in then because she wasn’t there.

I didn’t know what I would do If she weren’t there.

This was the only lead so far.

I looked up and met Dad’s eyes.

“I’ll call the brothers,” he said. “We’ll get men ready.”

I nodded.

One way or another, I was getting my girl back, and if I had to fucking skin little Frankie alive, then so be it.

GEMMA

I was tied to a chair.

I didn’t know where I was or who was in the room with me because I was pretending to still be unconscious, but I could hear some chatter in the next room—or what I assumed was the next room since the voices were muffled.

I took stock of my body.

I was sore, but that was probably from running away.

My cheek was sore, but that was probably from when Frank slapped me. Other than that, I was still wearing my clothes, including my Converse.

Helplessness weighed me down.

I didn’t think they’d done anything to me while I was out besides tying me to the chair, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t do something to me now.

My legs shook in fear at the thought, and tears stung my eyes.

I wanted Kai.

I wanted to be away from here and back in Kai’s bed, with him lying next to me.

I thought about how he had looked this morning, his soft eyes and the warmth that had engulfed me.

Nothing had ever made more sense to me than when I was in his arms.

Everything that had ever overwhelmed me before—

It just disappeared.

Breathe in, breathe out.

Tears streamed down my cheeks through my closed eyelids. It wasn’t working.

I opened my eyes, blinking away more tears to clear my vision, and took in my surroundings for the first time.
