Of course it was.
“Kai…”
“I love you,” he said, his breath fanning over my face.
I looked at him with blurry eyes. “You know, people usually ask before they slip on the ring.”
He smiled, and I felt myself relaxing. I didn’t think I would see his smile today. “And give you a chance to say no? Fuck, no.”
“I wouldn’t have said no,” I said, laughing a little as tears clogged my throat.
“Good to know,” he murmured, pressing his lips against mine once more and kissing me in that way of his that always made me catch my breath.
My tears dripped between our lips, and he wiped them away.
“No more crying,” he said. “I have seen enough of your tears. From now on, you’re to laugh, and that’s all.”
I laughed. “You really think you can dictate that?”
“Oh, yeah, because you’re my good girl, and you’re to do as you’re told. Got me?”
“No,” I answered.
His blue eyes flared a little before his lips tilted in a mischievous grin. “No?”
I pushed out from under his arms. He grabbed my middle and drew me back, his hands running teasingly up and down my side.
I laughed. “No.”
“Oh, you are a brat, aren’t you?”
“And what are you going to do about it?” I asked.
Eyes soft, he said, “Keep you. I’m gonna keep you forever.”
I let out a small sigh. “Okay. That sounds perfect.”
Yeah, that sounded really perfect to me.

KAI
We tookthe cars to San Francisco.
Dad rode with me, and Roman and Micah followed behind us.
Ten brothers had already been sent ahead of time and would have arrived by this time.
The port came into view, and I took a left to the side of the road, where there was a small patch of land that overlooked the port. It made it easy for us to hide the cars while we worked.
I could see a group of men already gathering ahead, with Blue in the middle.
I parked and got out.
He walked up to me, his blue eyes questioning.
“She’s fine,” I said, answering his unasked question.
