“Where are you going?”

“Hunting,” I said darkly.

“Kai…”

“It’ll be all right, pretty girl. Trust me.”

“I do.”

“Good girl.”

I was about to pull away, but she grabbed my arm. “Be careful and come back to me,” she said, holding her stomach. “To us.”

I grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it. “Always.”

I walked out of there, moving back to the upper deck and ignoring my instinct to come back to her and protect her.

I went out to the main deck.

“Where are you guys?” I asked through the mic hidden beneath my shirt.

“On the upper deck. I see you,” Micah said.

I found him in a small corner, pushing a body overboard.

“I’m heading there right now,” Roman said.

“Dad?”

A grunt, then the sound of water splashing. “I’m in the back. I’ll be there soon.”

I looked around the deck, wondering how many more men were left on the ship, when I felt the muzzle of a gun pressed to the back of my head.

I didn’t show any reaction, though I relaxed my arms at my sides.

“How nice to see you again. I should have known you’d chased the bitch out to sea,” Jude said.

His voice hadn’t changed too much. It had gotten a little deeper, but he sounded the same otherwise.

“Jude. How nice to see you again.”

He pushed me onto the deck as the rest of his men followed—or what was left of his men. Seven of them, each carrying a weapon—guns, knives, and one even had a machete, the other an ax.

Stupid fuckers.

Didn’t they know that would only be used against them?

Looked like a fair fight to me.

“Dominic!” Jude shouted. “Get your ass out here before I blow your precious son’s head off!”

My jaw clenched, and I waited as Dad finally walked out to the deck, his gun in hand and pointing at Jude.

“Drop your weapon.”

Dad hesitated.

Jude pushed the gun harder against my head. “Do it. You think I won’t fucking shoot him?”
