Fuck.

Kai was still staring at me.

My eyes moved to his left, and I saw Dominic watching Kai, frowning a bit before he hit me with his gaze.

I froze.

Now I had two sets of identical blue eyes shooting straight at me, one with an unexpressive look and the other with curiosity.

I found both unnerving in different ways.

Then Dominic’s lips pulled up in a wide grin, and I could feel my eyes widen.

What the hell did that smile mean?

He stood, and I shrank into Blue, who was now paying attention to me.

Dominic made his way over, and I wondered if it was too late to run out of there, taking Blue with me. The crowd moved out of his way, which told me that they were also scared of him as much as they admired him.

For good reason.

Oh, no.

What if I somehow got Blue in trouble with the club’s president?

“Are you okay?” Blue asked.

I swallowed, but before I could answer him, a large shadow fell over us.

I tensed. Kai was frowning our way.

Dominic Madden was standing next to us. Blue straightened and stepped slightly in front of me.

“Hey, prez.”

I tried to make sense of Blue’s tone. I didn’t think he sounded worried, but I could be wrong. Blue could be really good at hiding his emotions, but especially with me, when I always had such a hard time differentiating between voice tones and meanings.

“Blue. Who is this pretty little thing hiding behind you?” Dominic asked, his voice smooth. I peeked up at him. His smile widened. I was still nervous, but he didn’t seem as scary when he was smiling like this.

I offered a small one back, though I was still hiding behind Blue. I looked down at my shoes.

“This is Gemma.”

“Gemma,” Dominic said. I glanced up to see his eyes narrowing, and I wondered if he’d figured out the same thing Kai did. That I was William Gallagher’s niece. Would he hate me simply by association?

I didn’t know, but I could feel myself paling from the thought alone.

I looked back down at the floor.

“Why don’t you and Gemma join me at the back table?” Dominic said.

I couldn’t be sure, but I felt Dominic’s eyes on me, the heat in them burning me from the inside out. “I’ll introduce you to my VP and sergeant-at-arms. They might look intimidating at first sight, but I promise, they’re like teddy bears for innocent little girls.”

What?

I was pretty sure sergeant-at-arms meant the enforcer in MCs. I swallowed. Didn’t that mean he killed people who posed a threat to the club, trying to keep order?

I only knew what Blue told me so far, and if the man next to Dominic was the enforcer, then I knew who he was.
