We followed Dominic closely, and Kai’s expression changed marginally as he watched the entire scene.

I wasn’t sure what the look in his eyes meant, but he—

“Blue, does Kai look unhappy?” I asked, close to his ear.

“Don’t worry about the way Kai looks. That’s just his natural disposition, okay?”

I couldn’t be sure, but I thought Blue was lying.

We got to the table, and the three other men turned to us.

They looked at Blue first before settling their gazes.

I swallowed and looked down at my feet again.

“Come on. Take a seat,” Dominic said.

Kai, for his part, was quiet.

Though I did feel his eyes on me as I sat next to him, and Blue sat on my other side. Kai’s scent instantly invaded my senses, and I worked hard not to show how much it affected me.

He smelled good.

I kept my eyes on the table as the waitress came up and brought over some beers.

My eyes met hers, and hers hardened.

I moved closer to Blue, and Kai narrowed his eyes at the closing gap.

Fucking hell.

Why did it feel like I couldn’t do anything right?

“You’re gonna drink with us, Gemma?” Dominic asked.

He didn’t wait for me to answer. He placed a beer bottle in front of me, and even if I wanted to refuse him, I didn’t know how.

I nodded and waited for Blue to help me open the bottle.

Instead, it was Kai who took it from my hand and opened it for me before putting it back in front of me on the table.

I looked over at him in surprise, but Kai was taking a large gulp of his beer. I watched the way his throat moved, and I noticed the light green butterfly tattoo on his neck.

I didn’t think I had ever been so fascinated with a tattoo before.

Dominic laughed, and Micah snickered while Roman said, “Ah, I get it now.”

“Fuck off, old man,” Kai said to Roman viciously.

I moved further into Blue, who wrapped his arm protectively around me.

“Gemma, what is your relationship with Blue?” Dominic asked bluntly.

Blue tensed beside me, and he was about to answer when Dominic shot him a sharp look. “I want to hear this from the girl.”

It might be just me, but it seemed like the whole table was quiet, really wanting to know about our relationship status.

But why?
