She would accept it all because there was no other choice for her.

And I wasn't above forcing her hand.

The front doors opened, and Dominic and Roman stepped inside. I didn't react to seeing them, but I had been avoiding Roman since that damn phone call about what he'd do if Ryleigh was mad at him.

I shouldn't have been so fucking indecisive when it came to Lainey.

The last thing I needed was to call my little brother asking for relationship advice, especially since the fucker was completely whipped by the tiny girl that barely reached up to his chin.

They saw me right away, and I ignored ’em, flagging down the waitress for a beer.

A little early for alcohol, but I was gonna need it dealing with those damn nosey assholes. The reason why I was even at the bar was because I was meeting Kai here.

Both men sat down next to me as the waitress stopped by. They put in their own orders, and I could feel Roman's eyes on me the entire time.

I looked at him.

The shameless fucker didn't bother turning away.

“What?” I asked.

“Nothing. You just look different,” he said, shooting me a shit-eating grin that made me want to punch him in the face.

The fucker only acted like this because he knew he was one of the few people in the world I would lay my life down for. Didn't give him a free pass to be such a fucking brat.

I punched him in the arm.

He scowled and made a show of rubbing it.

I rolled my eyes. I didn’t even fucking use all of my strength.

“Different or not, I can still kick your ass.”

He laughed. “Nah, you wouldn't mess with my face. You love me too much for that. Obsessed, really. Although, I'm thinking you got a new obsession to worry about.”

“You’re fishing. Stop. You ain't gonna catch anything.”

“You sure? ’Cause I haven't seen your face around here.”

I looked at him.

Beside Roman, Dominic was smiling.

Fuckers, the lot of ’em.

Kai walked through the front doors, then—thank fuck. His eyes roamed over the place until he found me and headed over to where we were.

He was holding a baby carrier in one hand, and tucked underneath his other was a tiny girl with big brown eyes and blonde hair, with his laptop held close to her chest.

She looked around the bar awkwardly.

And she was that.

Whereas Ryleigh was shy, and Emmy was reserved, Gemma was awkward.

Kai rarely went anywhere without the girl unless he knew something dangerous was going on at the club.

I didn’t blame ’im.
