“What’s going on?” Dominic asked, obviously sensing something was up. He picked up Kingston and held him close to his chest.

I hadn't told anyone about what I found except for Kai. I didn’t have the time, not when there was so much shit going on.

“I think it’s best if I show you,” Kai said, looking around the bar.

He didn’t need to worry.

No fucker would be stupid enough to come near our table, save for the waitress.

She stopped by and handed us our beers and a glass of apple juice for Gemma, something Kai had stocked up at the bar specifically for her since she was still breastfeeding.

We waited until the waitress left before Kai turned the computer around so the three of us could see what was on the screen.

“What the fuck?” Roman muttered.

“What the hell am I looking at?” Dominic asked darkly, though I was sure he could guess.

“A drug distribution system operating underground in Del Paso Heights.”

Dominic turned sharply to me. “Ozzy Reyes’ district?”

I nodded.

“Why is his name popping up so much lately?” he asked me, his eyes narrowing.

“When did his name pop up?” Roman asked. “He runs the Basement, doesn’t he? Nothing more than a small branch of the King’s Men’s territory.”

Dominic shook his head, and I knew what he was going to say before he said it. “Not nothing. Not when I just gave the man’s debt to my enforcer.”

He didn’t sound angry, but then again, Dominic never let anyone know if he was angry or not. Usually, they figured it out when he attacked them.

“What’s going on with you and Reyes, Micah?” Dominic asked.

Roman opened his mouth, probably to defend me, but Dominic held his hand up to stop him. “I want to hear it from my brother.”

At least he wasn’t questioning my loyalty, though I never thought he would.

We both knew this club had been my life since the moment I joined.

Nothing had changed that…

It just shifted down in the list of priorities as more of my weaknesses were added, but that was just fucking life.

And Lainey was currently occupying the top of the list. I had a feeling that was gonna be where she would stay for the rest of my fucking life.

I looked around at the three men I would die for. Would kill for.

“I took Ozzy Reyes’ daughter,” I said. “As a way to settle the debt.”

Gemma tensed and looked at me with a horrified look in her eyes.

Dominic didn’t react to what I said, and I couldn’t be sure if it was because he already knew that, or if he was just good at hiding his reaction.

I suspected it was the former.

Kai watched her. “Uh, pretty girl, why don’t you take Kingston to my office? I’ll have the waitress bring you some food, yeah?”

Gemma ignored him and looked at me. “You took her? Like against her will?”
