Dominic walked up to me.
“What do you want to do, brother?”
His question brought me back to the situation at hand, and with it, rage.
Rage that I had never felt before.
Rage the consumed every molecule in my body.
I turned to the group of men huddled together.
Three boys who looked like they were teenagers, one man who seemed to be in charge of the group, and one of the two men who had stood guard.
They flinched when I got close.
“Names. I want to know your names.”
Two of the teenage boys pushed one out in front of them, drawing my attention.
“W-We’re not a part of this, man. We’re in high school. Please—” He closed his eyes, his voice cutting off. “Please. You have to let us go. Our parents will wonder where we’re at and—”
“If you’re not a part of it, what the fuck are you doing here?” I interrupted, having no patience for his rambling.
He blanched but didn’t say anything.
I had a pretty good idea of what the fuck went on.
Kai was able to hack into the traffic cam by the school and we found the three fuckers grabbing Lainey, dragging her into their car.
They had used their own car, and it didn’t take long for us to run the plate, and I had the identities of the three high school boys who fucking plotted with a man and took my fuckingeverything.
We didn’t have time to delve deep into their background check, but I knew enough to know this wasn’t the first time they had taken a girl to this cornfield.
Anincidentreport had been filed, yet the charges were dropped by the girl only a couple of weeks later.
It didn’t take long to add two and two together.
And in this case, the equation consisted of one rich and powerful parent plus three teenage boys with no sense of consequences equaled a dropped rape charge.
And these fucking pricks had their hands on Lainey.
A minute later and I could have lost her.
My fists clenched.
Dominic didn’t say anything, letting me take the lead on this.
Behind me, Kai stood by, silent.
“Why should I let you go?” I asked quietly. I had no plans to let any of them go. Teenagers or not, these boys knew fucking right from wrong.
They just didn’t fucking care, and they got off on their first taste of power.
Even if I had more mercy than the Devil, there was no way to say they wouldn’t fucking be dangerous to other people.
And they had touched what was mine.
Dominic clutched my shoulder, grabbing my attention. “You can’t kill ’em.”
