But the sound…

There was nothing I could have done about the sound of her struggles, her screams, and hislaugh.

I blinked and broke eye contact, moving over to the table and standing next to Roman.

I placed my hands on his strong shoulders, feeling comforted by the feel of his solid form beneath my touch.

He looked at me strangely.

I pretended not to notice and focused my eyes on the screen at the big fucker.

“Lincoln Vincent,” Kai said. “The new VP of the Devil Sinners MC, and what’s more, Ozzy Reyes’ newest fighter.”

I narrowed my eyes at that. “Yeah?”

I could fucking see it.

I estimated the fucker to be bigger than me, an inch or two taller than my six-foot-five height, and slightly wider than I was.

But slow, too, I imagined.

“Why the fuck is he fighting for Reyes?”

Kai shrugged. “Maybe because he’s bored? He’s been in three fights so far. None of them were to the death, and he won all of them.”

I let out a small sound in the back of my throat to let him know I heard him before I turned to Roman.

“Do me a favor?”

He frowned. “What?”

“Go to Ozzy’s shit trailer for me tonight.”

“For what?” Roman asked warily.

Dominic shook his head. “You wanna fight the fucker?”

I nodded. “To the death.”

“What the fuck?” Roman asked. “Why the hell would you want to fight him? We can have men come in and attack them right now. It would be an easy win because those fuckers won’t be expecting it.”

“And give whoever the fuck is leading the charge a chance to run?” I shook my head. “No, it’s personal now. I thought killing the high-ranking member would be enough, but those little cockroaches decided to come back even with their heads chopped off. And they fucking hurt Lainey. I don’t want them out of the city. I want every single fucking one of ‘em destroyed.”

“But why risk your life?” Roman asked.

I looked at him sharply. “You questioning my skills, little brother?”

His jaw clenched. “I don’t want you taking unnecessary risks.”

I cupped his cheek affectionately. “I’ll be fine. Set it up for me.”

“You gonna pull Brody out, then?” Dominic asked.

I looked at him.

I hadn’t told anyone I had put Brody in to keep a closer eye on Lainey when I couldn’t. But I didn’t pull Brody out when I took Lainey home with me, wanting him to stay and keep watch of the place.

I shouldn’t be surprised that Dominic knew about that. Which made me wonder just how long he’d known about Lainey.
