He shrugged. “You seemed to enjoy it the last time.”
“You mean when I was scared shitless out of my mind of you?”
He squeezed my side for that comment. “Don’t get smart on me, sweetheart. I can still be your nightmare.”
I raised my chin up in a challenge. “And what are you going to do? Cut into my skin and mark me again?”
The waitress took that moment to come back with some butter that I’d requested for the bread. Her mouth gaped open, obviously having heard us.
I looked down at the table and blushed in a red that I was sure was as deep as a tomato.
“Uh, I’ll go check on your food,” she said, walking away.
Micah threw his head back and laughed as she was walking away.
I glared up at him and tried to cover his mouth with my hand.
He bit my fingers.
“Hey,” I said, pulling them away and checking out the sting.
He didn’t give me a chance to think before he grabbed my fingers and put them back in his mouth, sucking on them and making me forget about the pain.
Hell.
He smiled around my fingers as he took in my facial expression.
He released them with a pop of his mouth. “Better?” he asked.
I didn’t answer him, looking back down at the table.
“Why are you recreating the date from last time?” I asked him, changing the subject.
“Why not? You seemed to enjoy it.”
I didn’t say anything for a moment, thinking back on his words.
I wondered if Micah had any experience.
It would explain why he kept buying me stuff.
Perhaps he didn’t know how to date.
Obviously, he wasn’t a virgin like me when we met, but I wondered if he was just as inexperienced as me when it came to actuallydating.
It was…
It was kind of cute.
“Why are you smiling to yourself like that?” he asked me.
I shook my head and moved closer to him, placing my head on his shoulder before turning my head and kissing his bicep swiftly.
I heard his breath catching, and when I looked up at him, that strange look was back in his eyes.
I was right.
Micah Stone did love me.
