Bets were placed, and the crowd was blood thirsty and greedy.
But no one bothered me because of Dominic, even if I did see some familiar faces throughout the place.
Kelsea, one of the waitresses that had been working there long before Dad even thought of exploiting free labor from me, came up and handed Dominic two beer bottles with the caps still on.
“Thanks, doll,” Dominic said, taking it from her hand.
He barely glanced at the girl, though from the look in Kelsea’s eyes, I’d say she was interested.
I watched Dominic for a beat.
Micah said Dominic was happily married to a woman, and they had two twin boys together, just eight months younger than Roman’s son.
A part of me had been skeptical about thehappily marriedpart, but it seemed Dominic wasn’t even interested in looking at another woman.
Micah said he hadn’t been with anyone since he had seen me.
That was over three years ago.
And I didn’t even know he had been watching me all that time.
Was it possible for him to be faithful to me, even with the lifestyle that he was in?
Men in the brotherhood weren’t exactly known for their fidelity, but…
Dominic effortlessly uncapped one of the beers with a lighter he kept in his pocket and handed it to me.
I hesitated before grabbing it out of his hand and taking a small sip.
“Thank you,” I said, loud enough to be heard over the crowd.
He nodded.
I looked down at my beer bottle and nervously played with the label.
“He’s gonna be fine,” Dominic said, his eyes on my fingers and the messiness I was making of the paper.
I nodded and swept through the mess on my lap, watching it fall to the floor.
“I’ve known Micah for a long time. Trust me when I say this fucker is no match for him,” Dominic said.
“That doesn’t mean I’m not scared.”
He nodded. “I still think he made a mistake agreeing to bring you here.”
I frowned up at him, and his lips twitched. “I’m just saying. Look around, girl. I wouldn’t have taken my wife to this place even if she begged. Hell, even if she threatened bodily harm to me, and that fucking wildcat would do it, too.”
He laughed, not looking so put off by the thought.
I wondered what kind of woman he married, that she would be brave enough to threaten bodily harm to a man like Dominic.
He tapped my chin playfully when I looked at him. The move was almost… affectionate.
I blinked.
“Never thought I’d see the day my enforcer is fucking whipped over a girl.”
“Who’s whipped?” Roman asked, coming in from my other side and taking the seat next to me. I was now surrounded by the president and the VP of the King’s Men.
